What is USAMC?

Purpose Statement

The United States Association of Massage Championships seeks to promote the massage industry and massage championships as a fun and engaging vehicle for exposing massage therapists to new techniques and skills while expanding their community. It exists to help facilitate the formation, process, and implementation of massage championships in the fifty United States of America under the International Massage Association rules. It is a participant feeder system for the American Massage Championship. USAMC will serve general members, championship participants, judges, and state Directors. It will serve as a training resource and job listings for judges.

Finally, it will collect data and scores and publish rankings for participants across the U. S. to help therapists improve their performance and careers.

Origin

This organization began in November 2022. Arizona had already had a state championship two years prior, led by John Sanders. After winning at the American Massage Championship, Melissa Strautman decided to start the Kentucky Massage Championship, and Mike Hinkle asked her to help other states get started. Ten months later, we have...

  • Forty-one championships happening in 2023-2024.

  • There are currently 30 USAMC member Directors.

  • We still have nine states that need a Director.

  • Some states are multi-state championships.

  • Eight states have already had their championships in our current championship year.

  • The championship year runs from July's AMC date through to the next July's AMC date.

  • We are supported by AMC, which IMA licenses.

Future

Lord willing, this organization will grow to fifty active and fun championships each year, keeping in mind our number one goal, fun for therapists while learning, being inspired, and growing in their profession. We have many plans brewing and will keep you informed.
